i dug deeper into the old memory box
I found some SUPER OG robot stuff, from my original pitch bibles for cartoon network.
here's the second drawing I EVER did of Robot

at one point I thought Robot should wear a 'batman' t-shirt

our favorite freaky brethren, the Yogman twins, were originally more 'tweedle-dee/tweedle-dum'-ish (but still pure EVIL)

and, one of my favorites: at one point while originally pitching the show, some executives thought that Robot should have a human family... so I gave him this:

oh, and I was trying to give robot his first exposed metal body... C-3P0's apparently...

but one thing was always constant:
Robot was a punk
... even when the network thought I should give him a 'real' name
(hence the "M" on his shirt... you'll have to guess what it stands for... I won't tell)

I've never been a big fan of telephones. Whenever asked to speak on one, or, whenever one rings around me, I clench my body, as if I know I'm going to get punched in the back of the head. I avoid using them as often as possible, and LOVE people who think nothing of it, and can make my calls for me. I guess that's a secretary (assistant??) but I need to get a bit cooler before I'm rocking that style again. Heck, I only succommed to gettin a cell phone a year ago, and it's 2007 now, mofro!
I'ts jus the whole 'speaking to persons not there' aspect which kind'a fucks with me. Like you're channeling someone, and only you can hear them. But the voice isn't really matching with what's happening around you, so you become slightly zombifyed: muttering to yourself... staring off into space... or just shutting down completely, (usually while driving your 'ebony midnight' suburban through the intersection of victory and hollywood way). You're instantly handicapped, one handed. And, shit, remember when phones had cords..?

that reminds me...

This is not to say I haven't done my time yapping into that little plastic rectanguloid. I have been known to date girls from time to time. At this point in my life I've probably spent HOURS... no, DAYS (weeks.. MONTHS?) on the phone with girls. Now, in a time of need, I used to think of the phone as my only link to the woman I adored. If I couldn't be with her in body, virtually through the wireways was the only option. God, what a fucking fool I was, (am?). The first girl who introduced me into the hell that was, and still is, 'inter-sexual telecommunications" was Diana Naffissi in 6th grade. I totally wasn't into her at all. But, I was young, and not wanting to be rude to a 'lady', (and not knowing what the fuck was up with the phone thing), I managed to log in a couple hours a night listening to her talk at me through that pesky off-white, free with a subscription to 'TIME' magazine, $6.95 squalkbox. Ahh, I remember it all too well: the marathon sessions... the 'who's hanging-up first' game... or if you're lucky, the uncontrollable crying, (consoling as only a phone can). Oh, I started amusing myself with games like putting the phone down and walking away... going to take a pee, (which back in the 'cord' age was essential), seeing how long I could be away from the phone without her noticing it. Maybe pepper-in an occasional "Uh huh." as I walk by on my way to go get some chips. Watching three TV shows in a row with the phone cradled over my shoulder, muttering the obligatory "Uh huh."-s at 7 minute intervals. Angrily miming at the phone to shut the fuck up... strangling the life out of the phone... "Uh huh."

that's why the new 'iphone' is SOOOOO great...

for those of us who are too 'cool' to carry around a sketchbook, but still gay enough to draw in public, there's always BAR NAPKINS. drawing on these flimsy paper rags with a bic pen is quite a challenge, especially if you like to 'shark it' (to apply excessive force with writing impliment while drawing)
but, alcohol sometimes makes for fun doodles:
